An amazing story. Thanks for sharing it. I am so glad your uncle, Mr Solberg, made it through back then. I will be honest: My late grandfather served as a German soldier in Italy back then. It’s painful to think that he might have been one of the interrogators or sitting in that machine gun nest. I am hoping he was not, and not involved in any other incidents, but I just don’t know. As a German, I am acutely aware of the huge debt we owe to decent men like Mr Solberg, who risked their everything to allow for my and everybody else’s freedom in Europe. I am humbled.
